Last updated: 11/10/2026

Version of 3 October 2026

Preamble

These General Terms of Use, hereinafter the “Terms of Use”, govern access to the websites operated under the domain names shapline.com and shapline.fr, as well as the use of their features, services, personal accounts and content.

The Website allows users, among other things, to browse, purchase and download digital products, including 3D printing files, digital models, plans, electronic diagrams, manufacturing files, computer programs, instructions, guides, bills of materials, illustrations and various technical documents.

The terms applicable to sales, payment, delivery of digital content, the right of withdrawal, statutory warranties and the settlement of commercial disputes are set out in Shapline’s General Terms and Conditions of Sale.

These Terms of Use specify, in particular, the rules for accessing the Website and the conditions under which the files and documents offered by Shapline may be used.

Article 1 – Publisher information

The Website is published by:

Shapline
SIREN: 881 099 533
Address: 58, route des Rois, 02000 Urcel, France
Email address: contact@shapline.com

Full information about the publisher, publication director and hosting provider is available in the Website’s legal notice.

Article 2 – Definitions

For the purposes of these Terms of Use, the following terms have the meanings set out below:

“Shapline” means the publisher of the Website and the owner or licensee of the rights relating to the content offered.

“Website” means the websites available under the domain names shapline.com and shapline.fr, including any associated subdomains.

“User” means any person who visits or uses the Website, whether or not they have an account.

“Customer” means any User who has purchased a Digital Product offered on the Website.

“Account” means the personal area created by a User to access, in particular, their information, orders and downloads.

“Digital Product” means any content provided in digital form by Shapline, including 3D printing files, STL, OBJ, STEP, CAD or equivalent files, plans, diagrams, electronic files, source code, software, programs, firmware, bills of materials, instructions, guides and technical documents.

“File” means any file or set of files included in a Digital Product.

“Licence” means the limited permission to use a Digital Product in accordance with these Terms of Use and, where applicable, the special conditions stated on its product page.

Article 3 – Purpose and scope

These Terms of Use are intended to define:

  • the conditions of access to the Website;
  • the rules for creating and using Accounts;
  • the general terms for using Digital Products;
  • the rights and obligations of Users;
  • the rules on intellectual property;
  • the measures that may be taken in the event of unauthorised use.

These Terms of Use apply to every User of the Website.

Where a Digital Product is subject to specific licence conditions shown on its page, in its documentation or in an accompanying file, those conditions supplement these Terms of Use. In the event of a conflict, they take precedence for the relevant Product.

The General Terms and Conditions of Sale take precedence on all matters relating to placing orders, prices, payment, delivery of Digital Products, the right of withdrawal and statutory warranties.

Article 4 – Acceptance of the Terms of Use

Accessing and browsing the Website implies that the User has read and accepted these Terms of Use.

Creating an Account, placing an order or downloading a Digital Product may require express acceptance of the Terms of Use by ticking a checkbox.

Users who do not accept these Terms of Use must stop using the Website and must not download the Digital Products offered.

The User declares that they have the legal capacity to accept these Terms of Use. When acting on behalf of a company or organisation, the User declares that they are authorised to bind it.

Article 5 – Access to the Website

In principle, the Website is available to anyone with Internet access and compatible equipment.

The User bears the costs of computer equipment, Internet access, software, consumables, electronic components, machines and tools needed to use the Website or Digital Products.

Shapline may temporarily interrupt access to all or part of the Website, including for:

  • maintenance;
  • updates;
  • fixing an issue;
  • improving security;
  • work by the hosting provider or another service provider;
  • responding to a cyberattack;
  • an event beyond Shapline’s control.

Shapline will endeavour to minimise the duration of interruptions but cannot guarantee that the Website will remain available at all times without interruption.

Article 6 – Creating and using an Account

Certain features, particularly access to purchases and downloads of Digital Products, may require creating an Account.

The User undertakes to provide accurate, complete and up-to-date information.

Each Account is personal and may be used only by its holder.

The User must choose a sufficiently secure password and take all necessary precautions to keep it confidential.

In particular, the following are prohibited:

  • sharing login credentials with a third party;
  • allowing several people to use the same Account;
  • selling, assigning, lending or renting out an Account;
  • using someone else’s Account;
  • creating an Account under a false identity;
  • circumventing a suspension or access restriction by creating a new Account.

Any action carried out through an Account is presumed to have been performed by its holder, unless proven otherwise.

The User must promptly inform Shapline of any unauthorised access, lost password or unauthorised use of their Account.

Shapline will never ask a User to disclose their full password by email.

Article 7 – Nature of Digital Products

Digital Products offered on the Website may include:

  • 3D printing files;
  • three-dimensional models;
  • manufacturing or assembly plans;
  • electronic diagrams;
  • printed circuit board files;
  • source code or programs;
  • firmware;
  • bills of materials;
  • assembly instructions;
  • technical guides;
  • images, text, graphics or illustrations;
  • archives combining several of these elements.

Formats, versions, compatible software, dimensions, technical specifications and prerequisites are provided, wherever possible, on each Product page.

It is the Customer’s responsibility to check this information before purchasing and to ensure that they have the necessary software, machinery, equipment, skills and components.

Article 8 – Intellectual property of the Website

The Website, its architecture, visual identity and all its elements are protected by French and international intellectual property law.

Unless otherwise stated, Shapline owns or licenses rights relating in particular to:

  • the Shapline brand and name;
  • logos;
  • text;
  • photographs;
  • illustrations;
  • videos;
  • graphics;
  • icons;
  • interfaces;
  • databases;
  • the Website’s code and components;
  • plans and diagrams;
  • digital models;
  • Digital Products;
  • technical documentation.

No intellectual property rights are transferred to the User simply by accessing the Website.

Any reproduction, extraction, representation, adaptation, translation, publication or exploitation of the Website or any of its elements is prohibited without Shapline’s prior written permission, except where expressly permitted by law.

Article 9 – Intellectual property of Digital Products

Digital Products constitute or may contain copyrighted works, software, databases, designs, models, technical documents or other protected elements.

Purchasing or downloading a Digital Product does not transfer any intellectual property rights to the Customer.

In particular, the Customer does not acquire:

  • ownership of the work;
  • copyright;
  • commercial reproduction rights;
  • public performance or display rights;
  • distribution rights;
  • resale rights;
  • the right to grant sublicences;
  • the right to use the elements as their own trademark, design or model.

The price paid covers only the supply of the Digital Product and the grant of the usage Licence defined in these Terms of Use or the Product’s specific conditions.

All rights not expressly granted to the Customer remain reserved by Shapline or the relevant rights holders.

Article 10 – Personal use Licence

Unless otherwise stated on the Product page, Shapline grants the Customer a licence that is:

  • personal;
  • individual;
  • non-exclusive;
  • non-assignable;
  • non-transferable;
  • non-sublicensable;
  • strictly limited to private, non-commercial use.

The Licence is granted solely to the Customer who made the purchase.

Subject to compliance with these Terms of Use, the Customer may:

  • download the Digital Product onto their personal devices;
  • keep a private backup copy;
  • consult the documentation;
  • use the files to carry out the project for personal purposes;
  • print or manufacture the components needed for their own private use;
  • modify the file for personal needs where such modification is not expressly prohibited;
  • publish photographs of their finished creation, provided that the files, plans, dimensions, diagrams and information enabling reproduction of the Product are not disclosed.

Any modification made by the Customer remains subject to the restrictions of these Terms of Use. Even a substantial modification does not entitle the Customer to claim ownership of the original Product or to distribute a modified version.

The Licence may not be extended to a company, association, school, team, shared workshop or multiple users without specific permission or a suitable licence.

Article 11 – Prohibition on file sharing

It is strictly prohibited to transmit, share or make all or part of a Digital Product available to another person.

This prohibition applies whether transmission is free or paid, including by:

  • email;
  • instant messaging;
  • USB drive or physical medium;
  • local network;
  • shared storage;
  • download platform;
  • forum;
  • social network;
  • Discord server or equivalent;
  • file-sharing service;
  • peer-to-peer network;
  • torrent;
  • marketplace;
  • digital library;
  • code or file repository;
  • online printing or manufacturing service.

Purchasing a Digital Product does not entitle the Customer to give, lend or transfer it to someone close to them.

A File may be sent to a printing or manufacturing provider only where the Product page expressly permits this or with Shapline’s written authorisation.

Where such transmission is authorised, the provider may use the File solely to fulfil the Customer’s order. The provider must not retain it longer than necessary, reuse it or pass it on to a third party.

Article 12 – Prohibition of commercial exploitation

Unless a separate commercial licence has been acquired or Shapline has given written authorisation, Digital Products may not be used for commercial, professional, associative or profit-making activities.

In particular, the following are prohibited:

  • selling or renting the File;
  • selling a modified copy of the File;
  • selling a model printed from the File;
  • selling an object manufactured from the plans;
  • selling a kit containing the project;
  • mass production or manufacturing on demand;
  • commercialising an electronic circuit based on the files;
  • providing a printing service using the Product;
  • using the Product to fulfil third-party orders;
  • incorporating the Product into an item intended for sale;
  • using the Product in a paid training course;
  • using the Product in advertising;
  • use of the Product by a company for internal purposes, unless an appropriate licence is held.

Use may be considered commercial even where the activity does not immediately generate a profit.

Any commercial authorisation must be given in writing. It may be restricted as to duration, territory, number of objects manufactured, type of exploitation or authorised sales channels.

Article 13 – Other prohibited uses

Without Shapline’s prior written permission, the following are prohibited:

  • reproducing or distributing a Digital Product, in whole or in part;
  • reselling, renting, lending, giving away or exchanging a Digital Product;
  • publishing a Digital Product on a platform or marketplace;
  • converting a File to another format for the purpose of distributing it or facilitating its distribution;
  • removing or modifying a watermark, signature, copyright notice, order identifier or protective metadata;
  • circumventing a technical protection measure or access restriction;
  • automatically extracting files or data from the Website;
  • using a bot, script, automated software or bulk download tool;
  • copying the organisation, presentation or documentation of a Product to offer a competing product;
  • registering all or part of a Product as a trademark, patent, industrial design or model;
  • claiming to be the author or creator of a Product designed by Shapline;
  • using a Product to train, test or enhance an artificial intelligence system, generative model, dataset, machine-learning system or embedding database;
  • incorporating a Product into a resource library intended for multiple users;
  • publicly disclosing dimensions, plans, diagrams or technical information that would enable the Product to be reconstructed;
  • exploiting an adaptation, translation or derivative work beyond authorised private use.

These prohibitions also apply to modified, converted, translated, cut, reorganised or adapted versions of Digital Products.

Article 14 – Third-party elements and specific licences

Some Digital Products may contain components, libraries, software, fonts, images or resources belonging to third parties.

These elements may be subject to their own licensing terms, including free or open-source licences.

Where a third-party licence accompanies a Product, it applies solely to the elements it identifies and takes precedence over these Terms of Use for those elements only.

The inclusion of a free or open-source component does not mean that the entire Digital Product may be freely copied, shared or resold.

The User must read and comply with the licences, credits and notices accompanying the Product.

Article 15 – Downloads and storage

Once the order has been validated in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of Sale, the Digital Product may be made available through the Customer’s Account or via a download link.

The Customer must download and back up their files on a secure personal medium.

Even where Shapline allows later downloads through the Account, the Customer remains responsible for keeping their own copies.

Shapline may temporarily limit the number or frequency of downloads if unusual or automated activity, or activity suggesting Account sharing, is detected.

Such a limit must not permanently prevent a Customer acting in good faith from accessing a Product that was lawfully purchased. The Customer may contact Shapline to request restoration of access.

Article 16 – Traceability and file protection

To protect its rights and combat unlawful distribution, Shapline may implement proportionate traceability measures.

Digital Products may contain, in particular:

  • an order number;
  • an identifier linked to the Account;
  • a visible or invisible watermark;
  • a digital signature;
  • metadata;
  • individualised marking;
  • a mechanism for identifying the source of a distributed copy.

Shapline may also keep technical logs relating to connections and downloads, in compliance with applicable personal data protection regulations.

The User must not remove, alter or attempt to disable these elements.

The existence of a traceability mechanism does not exempt Shapline from establishing facts and liability in accordance with the applicable rules of evidence.

Article 17 – Compatibility and technical prerequisites

Results obtained from a Digital Product may vary depending on, among other things:

  • the software used;
  • the software version;
  • computer hardware;
  • the 3D printer;
  • printing settings;
  • materials;
  • manufacturing tolerances;
  • component quality;
  • tools used;
  • changes made by the Customer;
  • assembly and operating conditions.

The Customer must check the formats and prerequisites stated on the Product page before purchasing.

Unless expressly agreed otherwise, Shapline does not guarantee compatibility with software, a machine, a component or a system not included in the stated prerequisites.

This provision does not limit mandatory statutory warranties applicable to digital content.

Article 18 – Electronic projects, 3D printing and safety

Some Digital Products may require the use of:

  • electrical or cutting tools;
  • a soldering iron;
  • a 3D printer;
  • electrical or electronic components;
  • batteries;
  • heat sources;
  • chemicals;
  • mechanical parts;
  • energised devices;
  • potentially hazardous machinery.

The User must have appropriate knowledge, skills and protective equipment.

In particular, the User must:

  • follow manufacturers’ instructions;
  • check wiring before applying power;
  • observe permissible voltages, currents, polarities and power ratings;
  • use suitable components;
  • monitor printing and manufacturing operations;
  • follow ventilation requirements;
  • keep tools, components and small parts out of children’s reach;
  • stop using equipment immediately in case of overheating, smoke, unusual odours or dangerous behaviour.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, Shapline’s Products must not be used in medical systems, safety equipment, life-support devices, critical industrial installations, vehicles, aircraft or any application where failure could cause death, serious injury or major damage.

Where a Product is used by a minor, the minor must be directly supervised by a competent adult.

The User is responsible for changes made to the project, the selection of components, the quality of assembly and compliance with applicable laws, standards and safety rules.

These provisions do not allow Shapline to exclude liability or warranties that cannot legally be excluded.

Article 19 – Prohibited conduct on the Website

The User undertakes not to use the Website:

  • for fraudulent or unlawful purposes;
  • to infringe the rights of Shapline or third parties;
  • to introduce a virus, malware or harmful code;
  • to compromise the operation or security of the Website;
  • to gain unauthorised access to an Account, server or database;
  • to test Website vulnerabilities without permission;
  • to circumvent access restrictions;
  • to impersonate another person;
  • to collect other Users’ personal data;
  • to send unsolicited messages;
  • to publish unlawful, abusive, threatening, hateful, defamatory, obscene or infringing content;
  • to misuse the download or payment system;
  • to place fraudulent orders or make abusive payment disputes.

Article 20 – Content submitted by Users

Where the Website allows a User to submit a review, comment, photograph, question or other content, the User remains responsible for what they publish.

The User warrants that they have all necessary rights and authorisations.

The User must not submit content that:

  • infringes intellectual property rights;
  • discloses personal data without consent;
  • is unlawful or misleading;
  • contains malware;
  • reproduces or reveals a Shapline Digital Product;
  • enables a third party to reconstruct a protected plan or project.

Shapline may remove any content that is manifestly unlawful or contrary to these Terms of Use.

Unless the User expressly agrees otherwise, submitting a suggestion or idea does not automatically transfer any related intellectual property rights to Shapline.

Article 21 – Account suspension or closure

Shapline may temporarily suspend an Account or limit some downloads where there are serious indications of:

  • Account sharing;
  • automated downloads;
  • distribution of a Digital Product;
  • fraud;
  • a security breach;
  • unauthorised commercial use;
  • a serious or repeated breach of these Terms of Use.

Except in emergencies, obvious fraud, security risks or ongoing distribution, Shapline will inform the User of the reason for the measure and allow them to submit their observations.

Where checks establish no breach, access must be restored within a reasonable period.

In the event of serious or persistent non-compliance, Shapline may close the Account and terminate the Licence for Products used in breach of these Terms of Use.

Account closure does not deprive the Customer of statutory rights and warranties associated with purchases. Nor does it end obligations concerning confidentiality, intellectual property and the prohibition on distribution.

Article 22 – Infringement of Shapline’s rights

Any use of a Digital Product beyond the granted Licence may constitute a breach of contract and an infringement of Shapline’s intellectual property rights.

In the event of unauthorised use, Shapline may, in particular:

  • request immediate removal of the content;
  • send formal notice;
  • report the content to the hosting platform;
  • seek identification of the person responsible for distribution as permitted by law;
  • suspend the relevant access;
  • claim compensation for damage suffered;
  • initiate appropriate civil or criminal proceedings.

Shapline reserves the right to seek compensation for all proven losses, including commercial losses, reputational harm, investigation costs, evidence-gathering expenses and legally recoverable legal costs.

Article 23 – Reporting infringement

Anyone who discovers unauthorised distribution of a Shapline Product may report it to:

contact@shapline.com

Where possible, the report should include:

  • the address of the relevant page;
  • a description of the copied Product;
  • screenshots;
  • the date of the finding;
  • any information identifying the author or seller;
  • contact details for the reporting person.

Shapline will review the report and decide on appropriate action.

Article 24 – User liability

The User is responsible for:

  • use of their Account;
  • keeping their login credentials confidential;
  • use of Digital Products;
  • modifications made to files;
  • building and physically using their projects;
  • compliance with laws, standards and safety rules;
  • damage caused by unlawful use or use contrary to these Terms of Use.

The User is also liable for the actions of persons to whom they have voluntarily granted access to their Account or to a Digital Product.

They must take reasonable steps to limit the consequences of an incident, including promptly notifying Shapline of unauthorised access.

Article 25 – Shapline’s liability

Shapline takes reasonable measures to ensure the operation and security of the Website.

However, Shapline cannot guarantee that the Website will be free of errors, interruptions, vulnerabilities or incompatibilities.

Subject to mandatory legal provisions, Shapline cannot be held liable for damage resulting exclusively from:

  • use contrary to these Terms of Use;
  • modification of the Product by the User;
  • failure to comply with the stated prerequisites;
  • incompatible hardware or software;
  • a defective component selected by the User;
  • incorrect assembly or wiring;
  • lack of maintenance;
  • unsafe or improper use;
  • actions of a third party;
  • loss of files that could have been avoided by reasonable backups;
  • an unforeseeable cyberattack despite reasonably implemented security measures.

Nothing in these Terms of Use may exclude or limit liability where doing so is prohibited by law, particularly in cases of personal injury, gross negligence, intentional misconduct or breach of a mandatory legal obligation.

Article 26 – Third-party links and services

The Website may contain links to third-party websites, software, services, manufacturers or suppliers.

Shapline does not control the content or practices of these third parties.

Users are encouraged to review their terms of use, privacy policies and safety instructions.

The presence of a link does not necessarily mean that Shapline recommends or guarantees the service concerned.

Article 27 – Personal data and cookies

Personal data collected through use of the Website is processed in accordance with Shapline’s privacy policy and applicable regulations.

Information about the purposes of processing, recipients, retention periods and individuals’ rights is set out in that policy.

The Website may require cookies or similar technologies to function.

The procedures for placing, accepting and refusing cookies are set out in the cookie policy or the consent-management tool available on the Website.

Article 28 – Changes to the Terms of Use

Shapline may amend these Terms of Use to take account of, in particular:

  • legislative or regulatory changes;
  • a court decision;
  • changes to the Website;
  • new services;
  • new security practices;
  • new types of Digital Products.

The date of the latest update appears at the beginning of the Terms of Use.

Changes apply to new uses of the Website as soon as they are published.

Where a change substantially affects rights associated with an Account, Shapline may inform the User by email or a notice displayed on the Website.

Unless required by law or necessary for security, a later amendment to the Terms of Use does not retroactively reduce the Licence validly granted to the Customer at the time of purchase.

Article 29 – Term and cessation of use

These Terms of Use apply throughout the period of use of the Website.

The User may stop using the Website at any time.

They may request deletion of their Account using the procedures offered on the Website or by contacting Shapline.

Deletion of the Account does not terminate provisions that by their nature must remain effective, particularly those concerning:

  • intellectual property;
  • Licence restrictions;
  • the prohibition on distribution;
  • liabilities already incurred;
  • dispute resolution.

Article 30 – Force majeure

Neither party will be liable for a failure directly caused by an event reasonably beyond its control that qualifies as force majeure under French law.

Depending on the circumstances, such events may include a natural disaster, fire, widespread network outage, major cyberattack, interruption of a hosting provider’s services, administrative decision or unforeseeable legislative change.

The affected party must take reasonable steps to mitigate the consequences of the event.

Article 31 – Severability

If a provision of these Terms of Use is held invalid, unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.

Where possible, the affected provision will be replaced with a valid provision having an effect as close as possible to its original purpose, without prejudice to the User’s mandatory rights.

Article 32 – No waiver

Shapline’s failure to exercise a right under these Terms of Use immediately does not constitute a waiver of its right to exercise it later.

An isolated instance of tolerance cannot be interpreted as creating a right for the User.

Article 33 – Language

These Terms of Use are written in French.

They may be translated into other languages to make them easier to consult.

In the event of a conflict or difficulty of interpretation between versions, the French version prevails, subject to mandatory provisions applicable to the User.

Article 34 – Governing law and dispute resolution

These Terms of Use are governed by French law.

This provision does not deprive consumers residing in other countries of mandatory protections available under the laws applicable to their situation.

In the event of a problem, the User is encouraged to contact Shapline to seek an amicable solution:

contact@shapline.com

If no amicable resolution is reached, the dispute will be brought before the competent courts determined in accordance with the applicable legal rules.

The provisions on consumer mediation for purchase-related disputes are set out in the General Terms and Conditions of Sale.

Article 35 – Contact

For any question about the Website, these Terms of Use, a Licence or the use of a Digital Product, the User may contact Shapline:
