Welcome to the Shapline Help Center.

On this page, you will find answers to frequently asked questions about digital products, orders, downloads, and using the files available on our website.

If your question is not answered below, you can write to us using the form on the “Contact Us” page.

What types of products does Shapline offer?

Shapline offers digital-only products, which may include:

  • files for 3D printing;
  • 3D models;
  • manufacturing and assembly plans;
  • electronics projects;
  • electrical or electronic diagrams;
  • programs, scripts, or source code;
  • firmware;

  • digital images, illustrations, and renderings.

The exact contents of each product are listed on its product page.

Will I receive a physical product?

No.

Unless explicitly stated otherwise, products sold on Shapline are provided exclusively in digital form.

You will therefore not receive any of the following by post:

  • a 3D-printed object;
  • an electronic component;
  • a printed circuit board;
  • an assembly kit;
  • a tool;
  • a machine;
  • a pre-assembled product.

Photographs and images displayed on the website illustrate what can be made using the files offered.

How will I receive my files after placing an order?

Once your payment has been confirmed, the files will be made available to you according to the terms indicated during checkout.

They may be accessible:

  • from your personal account;
  • through a download link;
  • from the order confirmation page;
  • through a confirmation email.

Remember to check your spam folder if you do not receive the confirmation email immediately.

Do I need to create an account?

Creating an account may be required to place orders, download files, and access digital products you have purchased.

Your account allows you to:

  • view your orders;
  • access your downloads;
  • find your receipts and supporting documents;
  • manage your personal information;
  • contact support more easily.

Your account is strictly personal. You must not share your login credentials with anyone else.

I haven't received my download link

First, check the following:

1\. your payment has been confirmed;

2\. the email address provided during checkout is correct;

3\. the message is not in your spam folder;

4\. the product is not already available in your personal account.

If you still cannot access your purchase, contact us via the “Contact Us” page, providing your order number and the email address used for the purchase.

My download isn't working

If you encounter a problem, try the following:

  • refresh the page;
  • log out and then log back into your account;
  • try another up-to-date browser;
  • check your internet connection;
  • temporarily disable extensions that may block downloads;
  • make sure your device has enough free storage space;
  • try using a computer if you are on a phone or tablet.

If the problem persists, use the form on the “Contact Us” page and include your order number, the product concerned, your browser, and any error message you encountered.

The downloaded file is compressed

Some products may be supplied as a ZIP archive or in another compressed format.

You must extract the archive's contents before using the files.

On most computers, you can right-click the file and choose an option such as:

  • “Extract All”;
  • “Uncompress”;
  • “Open With”.

Specialized software may also be required for certain formats.

How can I find out which software is compatible?

The supplied file formats and any compatible software are listed on the product page.

Before ordering, make sure you have:

  • a compatible device;
  • the required software;
  • a sufficiently recent version of that software;
  • the equipment needed to complete the project;
  • the appropriate technical skills.

A paid license for third-party software may sometimes be required. Unless otherwise stated, it is not included in the price of the Shapline product.

How do I use a 3D-printing file?

3D-printing files generally need to be opened in slicing software compatible with your printer.

Results may vary depending on:

  • the printer used;
  • the material;
  • the nozzle diameter;
  • the layer height;
  • calibration;
  • temperatures;
  • printing speed;
  • infill;
  • the use of supports;
  • your machine's tolerances.

You are responsible for adapting the settings to your equipment and monitoring the printing process.

Are the required components included?

No, unless expressly stated otherwise.

For electronics or mechanical projects, components, tools, consumables, cables, screws, motors, electronic boards, batteries, and power supplies are generally not included.

When a bill of materials is provided, it helps you identify the items required to complete the project.

Before purchasing components, check the references, dimensions, and specifications provided in the documentation.

Can I modify the files?

The rights granted depend on the license applicable to the product.

Unless expressly authorized, the files remain protected by copyright. Their modification, adaptation, reproduction, or distribution may be prohibited.

Technical steps necessary for personal use, such as slicing a 3D-printing file or adjusting certain settings, do not give you any ownership rights over the original file.

A modified version may not be shared, resold, or commercially exploited without Shapline's written permission.

See the Terms and Conditions of Sale and any product-specific terms to understand your rights in detail.

Can I share the files with another person?

No.

Digital products purchased on Shapline are intended for the buyer's personal use.

In particular, you may not:

  • send the files to a family member or friend;
  • share the files by email;
  • publish the files on a website;
  • upload them to shared storage;
  • offer them on a download platform;
  • share your account with someone else;
  • give away or resell the files.

Purchasing a digital product does not transfer the associated copyrights.

Can I sell 3D prints made from the files?

No, unless Shapline has expressly granted you a separate commercial license.

The standard license does not allow you to:

  • sell 3D prints;
  • manufacture objects on demand;
  • provide a printing service using the files;
  • market modified or resized objects;
  • incorporate a print into a product intended for sale;
  • produce batches, even in small quantities.

This prohibition also applies to electronics projects, software, plans, and other creations made using Shapline files.

Can I use the files in my business?

The standard license is intended for personal, non-commercial use.

Using the files within a business, association, educational institution, fab lab, shared workshop, or among multiple employees may require authorization or a specific license.

You can tell us about your requirements through the “Contact Us” page.

Can I request a refund?

Because Shapline products are digital content supplied without a physical medium, downloading may begin immediately after ordering.

If you have expressly requested immediate access to the content and acknowledged the loss of your right of withdrawal, you can no longer exercise the fourteen-day withdrawal period once supply has begun.

A refund therefore cannot be requested simply because you have changed your mind after gaining access to the files.

This rule does not limit your rights if digital content is non-compliant, defective, or inaccessible under the conditions provided by law.

For more information, please consult the Terms and Conditions of Sale.

There is a problem with the file

Before contacting us, check that:

  • the archive was extracted correctly;
  • you are using compatible software;
  • your software is up to date;
  • the file has not been modified;
  • your settings match the recommendations;
  • your equipment meets the stated requirements.

To help us investigate, please provide the following via the “Contact Us” page:

  • your order number;
  • the product name;
  • the file concerned;
  • the software and its version;
  • the equipment used;
  • a detailed description of the problem;
  • a screenshot of the error message, if possible.

Are updates included?

Certain fixes and updates needed to keep the product compliant may be provided in accordance with applicable regulations.

New versions that add significant features or constitute a major upgrade may be offered separately.

The applicable terms are specified on the product page or in your personal account.

Can I publish photographs of my finished project?

You can generally publish photographs of your completed project for personal purposes, provided you do not disclose or distribute:

  • source files;
  • detailed plans;
  • complete dimensions;
  • diagrams;
  • code;
  • documentation;
  • information that would allow others to reproduce the product.

You must not imply that you are the creator of the original project.

Where possible, acknowledging Shapline as the project's creator is appreciated.

Can children use these projects?

Some projects may involve risks relating to:

  • electricity;
  • batteries;
  • heat;
  • sharp tools;
  • small parts;
  • soldering;
  • machinery;
  • chemicals;
  • mechanical parts.

A minor must not undertake or use a project without direct supervision by a competent adult.

Always follow the instructions, safety rules, and recommendations of the manufacturers of the equipment and components used.
